| Q: |
What's your guarantee that I'll improve my score? |
| A: |
We don’t. Not to sound harsh, but all guarantees of higher scores in test prep are just marketing ploys. No one can guarantee that you will score higher. Generally, there are three paradigms that increases a student's score. They are: (1) World Class Curriculum, (2) Highly Qualified Tutors, and (3) Self-Motivation. Meridian Tutoring excels at (1) and (2), but we have no control over (3). We will motivate you, and be there for you every step of the way towards your goal, but no one can guarantee that you will work hard to get there. |
| Q: |
So, what happens if I don’t attain my goal score? What will Meridian Tutoring do for me then? |
| A: |
We will discuss you options - our primary focus is for you to reach your goal score. If that means another round of classes, more private tutoring hours, or extra study materials, or longer access to our proprietary question banks, all of these options will be available to you at no further cost. That's our promise to you. |
| Q: |
I'm afraid that I won't be able to keep up. Do you record our progress? |
| A: |
Yes. Simply put, we have Progression Files ™ on every single student in our class. No student get left behind. This comprehensive file is updated after every class, every session, with every tutor that you will interact with. We take the time to record your progress, unlike other test prep companies out there who may not even know your name after your last session with them. We just simply care. |
| Q: |
When do you recommend that I take the GMAT? |
| A: |
Generally, we recommend that you take the actual GMAT CAT no later than 2 to 4 weeks after the last session. The information is still fresh in your mind, and we feel confident that you will be ready at the point. There is no hard and fast rule though - you ultimately have to make the decision on when you think you are ready. |
| Q: |
What happens if I miss a class? Can I make it up later? |
| A: |
We are not run by a corporate mogul. We are adative all the way down to changing class schedules, if everyone in your class agrees to it. If not, you may have the option to catch up with us via Private Tutoring. |
| Q: |
Do I have homework before first class? |
| A: |
Yes. That is why it is important for you to sign up with us as early as possible. You want to give yourself about two weeks prior to class start so that you can receive the books earlier, and do some of the homework without feeling rushed. |
| Q: |
I actually want to get into the top 10 programs in the country - including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Northwestern, etc. Can you help me reach into the top % in my test? |
| A: |
Yes. Of course. All of our instructors have scored over 96% in all of the exams that we teach. Our students have scored up to 99% in every exam that we teach. Plus, our complimentary private tutoring hours allow individual students to target and focus their studies toward their highest score possible. |
| Q: |
Do you have an online class? |
| A: |
We fundamentally believe that online courses are utterly ineffective in teaching the concepts needed to succeed on standardized exams. We have numerous classes available in your area throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Please inquire at info@meridiantutoring.com |
| Q: |
Do you have information on your tutors? |
| A: |
Of course. Profiles of each individual tutor is on the website. We are proud of our tutors, and believe that they are the utmost qualified instructors in the world. With over 25+ years of teaching experience, 100+ hours of standardized test prep training, and a payrate that is equaivalent to a six-figure salary, we house the very best of the best instructors in Pittsburgh and beyond. |
| Q: |
Do you have a Private Tutoring package? How do I know if I need private tutoring? |
| A: |
First, Meridian believes that Private Tutoring packages are a scam. Test prep companies force hours and hours of private tutoring down your throat, give you difficulty if you don't like your tutor, and coerce you to complete the hours even if you don't require all the hours you have pre-paid for. Second, we believe that private tutoring should be fair, effective, efficient, and adaptive. Our tutoring hourly rate is approximately 1/2 the cost of all the other test prep companies out there, with better qualified instructors, and a no-obligation payment plan without forcing you to buy 10, 15, or 30 hours at a time. |
| Q: |
Can I purchase your textbooks separately, even if I do not want to pay for the course? |
| A: |
Yes. We offer our books for sale through our online store as individual textbooks. Our textbooks are intended to be self-teaching materials, as well as a vital companion to your Meridian classroom experience. |
| Q: |
What do I get for my money when I sign up for a course? |
| A: |
You get, simply, the very best in test prep education. Aside from the longest, and most effective test prep course in the country, you also get 2 absolutely free hours of private tutoring, proprietary textbooks, all of the official study guides, access to our online and printed quesiton banks, 24/7 phone support from our tutors, comfortable learning environment in our classrooms with Herman Miller task chairs, and complimentary beverages and snacks to keep you energetic in our class! We take care of you, because we believe in you. |
| Q: |
Can I transfer my tutoring hours to someone else in class if I don't want to use them? |
| A: |
At this time, we do not honor transfers. The complimentary tutoring hours are for your benefit, and we highly recommend that you use them, because the 2 hours are given to you to focus on your weaknesses and strengths. |
| Q: |
Where are you located? |
| A: |
We have many locations throughout Pittsburgh, and affiliate schools, and corporations. However, our main classroom and headquarters is located in Shadyside, Pittsburgh, 134 S. Highland Ave, 3rd Floor, Pittrsburgh PA 15206. Come stop by whenever you like - we'd love to see you. |
| Q: |
Do you offer admissions councelling? |
| A: |
There is a tremendous amount of research and study that denounces the use of admissions counselling services. They mostly point out the fact that admissions counselling is a misguided service because all you'll get is a template essay, template advice, and template application. You want to stand out in your application, and search deep within yourself to present the very best of YOU, not what someone else told you. Our philsophy may be a little nontraditional, and inciteful, but that's our stance. So, no, we do not offer admissions counselling, but will be more than happy to brainstorm with you regarding your application. After our students have been successful in gaining acceptance into the very best programs throughout the world. |
